| appearance Delicate in frame and of average height, Giovanni has a waspish look about him that does not speak of physical strength at a glance. His limbs are long and slender, his features sharply pointed. He has the pale skin of one who has spent most of his life indoors, like a sheltered prince of sorts. His straight platinum blonde hair is neatly cropped in the bowl style, very soft yet sharp. Overall, his appearance is generally quite tidy. He prefers to dress in formalwear, usually a full suit with a tie and polished shoes. The collar of his shirt covers his "dog collar", a strip of metal fused to the skin on the back of his neck. His eyes are always, without exception, concealed by a pair of glasses with bulbous orange lenses. Sometimes, perhaps when he is under particular strain or excessively happy, the veins around his eyes seem to bulge, but normally his face is rather smooth and pleasant to the eyes. personality Giovanni is a man ruled by his desires, and the greatest of those desires is the desire to slowly but completely break his older "brother" Heine through constant taunting and reminders of Heine's dangerous nature and violent past. Why exactly he so delights in torturing his adopted sibling is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps it is part jealousy, because Giovanni is in many ways incomplete where Heine is whole. Perhaps it is revenge for the physical pain Heine inflicted upon him when they were children. Perhaps it is all simply for attention. Whatever the case, it is this selfish amusement, this obsession, that is at the center of everything he does. With an almost-permanent smile on his face, he has a generally light-hearted disposition, to the point that he finds humor in topics most people would consider very sensitive, such as the slaughter of children. Although he can be perfectly polite, civil, and obedient, he completely lacks empathy or concern for human life. Yet because he is quite intelligent and can literally read minds, he is able to pretend to be a sensitive individual when the situation calls for it. Actual love and tenderness abandoned his heart long ago. strengths & abilities As one of the Dogs in the Cerberus Project, Giovanni has many talents which may be classified as "superhuman". Like Heine, he is able to recover from almost any wound with extraordinary speed, making him virtually immortal. He also has enhanced speed, agility, and strength, although not at the same level as his older brother. What sets him apart from Heine are his psychic abilities. He is able to access the mind of his target from any distance, to look into one's thoughts and subconscious, to project himself into the subject's mind, and to even control, to a certain extent, his target's nervous system. His powers enable him to appear to the target as if he is physically present and tangible, at any time or place, in the real world or in one's dreams. In this state, his "touch" can also freeze the target by sending a signal which disrupts one's nervous functions. The effects of this wear off as soon as Giovanni disappears from the occupied mind. Giovanni's mental powers, assisted by his glasses, are also what enable him to see. weaknesses Physically, Giovanni's greatest weakness is his blindness, the price he had to pay for his "gifts". His glasses are engineered to work with his psychic abilities in order to simulate true eyesight in his brain, but his actual eyes are useless. Psychologically, Giovanni is a young man whose ability to empathize and feel remorse has been damaged by the trauma of being literally torn apart as a child. He is also a faithful servant who has been entirely unappreciated, the failed experiment compared to Heine's success constantly. He is jealous of Heine's strength and ability to control the Cerberus. This is part of what drives his need to dominate Heine in the psychic realm, to prove his own worth and to show that he, at least, has not "wasted" his abilities. He especially hates to be underestimated or treated like a child by those he respects. As the result of a wish granted by Yuuko, if the phrase "seien Sie ruhig" is spoken in Giovanni's presence, he will immediately revert to the sweet, peaceful personality that he had before he was modified by Einstellson. Neither personality will remember events that occurred while the other was in control. Giovanni's normal state will return if he is injured or upset. weapons Giovanni himself is a weapon. He also carries a twin pair of Walther P38 pistols. history Giovanni claimed to have been "born and raised" in the Underground. He was the 68th subject in the Cerberus Project, genetically manipulated and experimented on from young childhood in order to become a superhuman soldier. For what purpose, exactly, he himself is not certain. He has always been a Dog, eager to take orders without question. However, he was never an exceptionally skilled subject compared to his fellow Dog, Heine. Young Giovanni was a timid and lonely creature, more inclined to quiet artistic pursuits than to fighting. His greatest accomplishment was simply surviving young Heine's attack on the Underground. Giovanni was torn limb from limb like everyone else he grew up with, but somehow he was the only one who did not perish. As an adult, Giovanni's primary mission is to track down Heine and bring him back "home" to Dr. Einstellson and the Underground, which is rebuilding itself. He was in the process of trying to take his brother by force when he was shot in the chest by Heine and plummeted off the side of a building.
